Jolie Myatt ‘Vicky’ – the girlfriend:
We’ve asked Jolie (a former Miss World candidate by the way) to give us some nice words for this bit. We’re still waiting. Come on, Jolie.

Simon Feilder (www.simonfeilder.com) - the driver:
The multi-talented Simon has presented the Big Breakfast, and was a semi-finalist of the BBC New Comedy Awards. He was also highly commended by The Royal Television Society for the romantic comedy short film Full Circle, which he wrote, directed and acted in.

Award-winning Director Simon Crofts:
“I’ve directed loads of public and private sector commercial films before, but this viral was a truly unique challenge. I wanted an eerie moonlit wood look for this so I got my first choice of director of photography Steve Saunderson (whose credits include Midsummer Murders on BBC) to shoot the piece. Also, I didn’t want fake-looking injuries to bring the audience’s attention away from the serious film message. So Jeremy (Producer) hired both an on-set medical consultant and long-time ‘Casualty’ (BBC) make-up artist Viv Oldham to give the subtle realism I wanted. Amongst the plethora of HD technology on-set I just hope nobody finds out that the ‘flickering, dying headlamp’ in the last shot was just nothing more than the sound recordist tapping wire ends against an old camera battery…”

Award-winning Producer Jeremy Stinton:
“I toyed with the idea of shooting this outside, but given the timeframe (and inclement UK February weather) this was just too risky. So one of my biggest challenges was to build a forest with a convincing ‘depth’ in a 12m x 10m studio. Luckily a friendly local tree surgeon ‘just happened’ to have the best part of a local wood sitting in his yard…One of my favourite crew members on this production was Noel from Black Heath Vehicle Dismantlers. When I asked him if he had a small, boy-racer hatchback with high speed impact damage specifically on the front passenger side, his response was: ‘Hmm…I haven’t got anything exactly like that in my stock. OK then, we’ll just crash one for you.’ He’s my kinda guy.”

Award-winning Scriptwriter Roger Tidball:
“A lot of the road safety ads you see on TV are pretty shocking, but the research says that they don’t necessarily work with younger drivers. So this was a tough challenge. Simon, Jeremy and I came up with the storyboard idea in the back of a car on a long motorway journey. It seemed appropriate. Writing the script was quite different from most copywriting jobs because the action tells the story and we wanted very few words. So every one has to count. We also deliberately avoided the standard moralistic message at the end. It’s better when people can draw their own conclusions.”

Client Jacqui Thompson (North Lancashire Primary Care Trust):
“Driving under the influence of alcohol continues to be a problem in the UK. It is still resulting in far too many serious injuries and deaths amongst young people.  We needed a medium for our message that young drivers wanted to engage with, would distribute among friends and subsequently help change attitudes. The huge number of viewing figures and feedback from ST16’s measurement systems clearly demonstrate that this viral has been designed, produced and distributed in the right way.”
