It Only Takes A Moment

We told this hard-hitting story through a candid and often upsetting interview with Barry’s mum. “My world stopped”, she says. “It’s like a big hole because Barry's not there. And it's not just me - it's his work mates, it's his family, it's his friends, we've all got this huge hole because of one mistake. One mistake.”

We reinforced her story with first hand accounts from Dorset’s emergency services, and extracts from an interview with the local traffic officer. His no-nonsense approach proved an effective way of getting across the message that young or inexperienced riders need to take things slowly, build up their confidence on the bike and be aware of the actions of other road users.

We also incorporated local scenes and accident hotspots into the film – a technique shown by BSM and Brake research to help viewers relate easily to the action, and see themselves in the same situation.

The key messages for bikers were loud and clear. Any rider of any age can be killed on the road. Even with all the latest safety gear, you’re still at risk. To stay alive, you need to keep within the speed limit, and remain alert. After all, it only takes a moment.

The DVD is used at seminars and at biker events.
