A Nice Place To Live

A chilling story can change attitudes. North Yorkshire County Council asked us to create a film that would get through to young people and their parents and encourage a responsible attitude to car ownership.

The Warin family had experienced every parent’s worst nightmare, their teenage son dying in a tragic car accident. ST16’s experience in filming sensitive subjects was crucial in allowing the Warin’s to tell their story comfortably in their own words. Childhood photographs, footage shot on location in Yorkshire and their son’s favourite Metallica song were carefully interweaved to bring home the raw emotion of Daniel’s death to the audience.

In Part Two of the film those affected by the Warin’s story could find out how to prevent it happening to them or a loved one. Cut with fast paced footage shot from police vehicles, local policemen became the presenters. They offered practical & credible advice, from choosing a safe car to observing your son or daughter’s attitude to driving.

The film is currently being distributed to young people and their parents in North Yorkshire on DVD.
