Running Away

Client: Safe@Last

As part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations in 2010, we ran a competition for charities to win £7,000 worth of video content. Winning charity SAFE@LAST provide support, shelter and preventative programmes for young runaways in Yorkshire.

The charity needed a film to help increase the impact of their preventative work in schools and let young people know about their services.

We created an animated film with characters voiced by some of the real young people SAFE@LAST work with, telling their own stories. The extremely emotive film is also being used across the charity to support fundraising activities and volunteer recruitment.

“The animation has had a fantastic response in schools. Recently, a teacher said that it was amazing to see how engaged the young people are because the stories are real. There have even been some occasions when classes have responded with a spontaneous round of applause!” Runaways Education Officer Tim Hirst

"To hear the actual voices of young runaways moved me to tears. Too often, young people have no effective means to tell the world the reasons for their actions.  This short film gives three of them the chance to explain why, and reminded us all of why we should be part of SAFE@LAST" Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes:
